This one might be the solution. Can be plugged in any synth, also the LE versions.

Ya.. but it is USB type... PC3K got exclusive BC port... how USB can be used to trigger ??

The thread is going fast and furious over at Cunka.com.

Meanwhile an interesting question came up. I already know most of what's needed to reverse engineer a BC3a from all the contributions to that thread, but I'm still a little fuzzy on maximum/nominal load numbers for the port.

I'm guessing around 5 to 10 milliamps peak but it would greatly put my mind at ease if someone here could give me a solid number.

Just to stop me from frying the BC port on my beloved PC3K8 when it finally comes to the big moment where I actually end up plugging it in.

If it's a higher number, closer to 20 or 25 mA that would be decent and give me a lot more leeway in designing the circuit.

And if you guys have any plans to market one of these yourselves, please by all means let me know so I can stop reinventing the wheel.

I mean seriously, even in one off quantities from what I can see this thing contains less than $30 worth of hardware and even if you sold them for $100 (200% Markup!!!) you'd probably sell one to every K series owner out there.

As far as I can tell it's nothing more than a $16 sensor, a 2N2222 transistor or two, a 5 V zener diode, a trimpot and a few resistors and caps plus a case and a cable and a $2 plastic headset to build one of these.

There can't be anything proprietary about this if it's using an off the shelf sensor so really guys;

WHAT'S STOPPING YOU FROM MAKING AND SELLING THESE WITH A KURZWEIL LOGO ON THEM????

Gary ;)

Ha, LoL :lol: :lol: :lol:
Yeah, go for it! But just a sec... before you go and enter the market with it, It want to tell some wishes for design.
Both should be possible: As head/neckset, and as a "Box" attached to the synth, with a silicontube, long enough to suck on it, but throw it aside and be free of cables any time I like. It has to look as cool as you can do with a baby-soother in your mouth.
Happyrat hit the spot. Think of all the YAMAHA-buyers, that are reminded of this other brand, everytime they plug their new KURZWEIL-BC into their classic Yamaha synth! Awesome! :mrgreen:

Send me a sample and I do a product-video. How´s about that? :geek:

@happyrat: It´s 2 trimpots, not 1. :roll:

Hi,

I do work at Kurzweil and I totally support cunka.com so, whatever floats the boat... as long as people get together and help each other It's OK to use whatever forum... but, as many people are in both, I'd try not to double post too often.

And remember everybody, ksetlist.com main goal is SOUNDS!!! The Discussion forum is good but the Sounds are the key point of this forum (please SHARE!).

Thanks :-)

Regards,
Fran

Actually from what I can see of the MPXV5010 sensor, I may not even need a DC amp at the output stage.

I was giving it some thought last night and all I may need is a 4V Zener diode and a couple of resistors and a few decoupling caps and that may be the entire circuit.

All I really have to do is drop 4 volts across the supply line and the output is directly compatible with the Kurzweil's input. There probably won't be a need for a bias trimmer if I don't need an output stage and if I'm building a single unit for my own use I can calibrate with a fixed resistor and set and forget it. ;)

Fran >>> I apologize for hijacking the forum further with this but I'm curious. What are the boys in the Kurz labs making of this thread? Is there any official interest in producing an authorized Kurz product here?

Fran >>

I would be excited to know if anyone in Kurzweil ever thought of making a BC??
